Originally designed as one of the options for Vantaa Lucia's Lucia necklace in 2018, "Let there be light" or "Varde ljus" is inspired by the warmth and light associated with Lucia, and the rural tradition of making candles in preparation for Christmas.

 In the Finnish countryside of the 1800s, candles were not in everyday use, and they were made specifically for important holidays or celebrations, such as Christmas. During the holidays, candles added to the festive atmosphere and alongside such things as greater than normal amounts of food and the prohibition on working for the two or three weeks of Christmas celebrations, they made the distinction between everyday life and the holidays all the more tangible.
